Puerto Viejo de Talamanca
This beach town is located on the Caribbean coast and is famed for its surfing, particularly the ‘Salsa Brava’ surf break and its black sand beaches. It may be a small town, but don’t underestimate the surrounding areas, which offer wildlife rehabilitation areas to discover mangroves, coral reefs, and shipwreck diving sites. Santa Teresa
What started as a typical Costa Rican surfing village has become one of the main hotspots for travelers to the region. With it being just 150km away from the country’s capital of San Jose, it is within easy reach when you begin your trip.

Parque Nacional Cahuita

This may be one of the most visited places in the country, but for a good reason, because here you will find a mix of everything suitable for families, honeymooners, solo travelers, and backpackers. There are good facilities here, maintained walking trails, wildlife spotting opportunities, and access to some of the country’s most fabulous beaches.

Poas Volcano
Costa Rica is known for its active volcanoes, and this 2,697m active volcano, which is located in the center of the country, is no exception. It has erupted 40 times since 1828 and is said to have one of the largest craters in the world, which you will surely want to feast your eyes on.
The volcano is set within the lush central forests, which offer stunning backdrops, but as well as this, the surrounding areas have a lot to offer too, so give this spot some extra time and attention.
Parque Nacional Tortuguero
Judging by its name, you might have already assumed that it has something to do with turtles, and you would be right. Its beaches are world-famous for being nesting grounds for sea turtles, including the endangered green turtle, which has to be one of the most incredible sights to see in your travel life. This is why Parque Nacional Tortuguero has to be one of the top 10 attractions in Costa Rica.
Arenal Volcano
This volcano is one of Costa Rica’s most iconic images, with its typical cone shape silhouette, making it a must-visit attraction when traveling the country.
