The allure of Nepal extends beyond the majestic snow-capped mountains; it weaves a tapestry of diverse landscapes, cultures, and experiences. This year, my family and I embarked on a memorable journey with Nepal Highlights.

Little did we know that this adventure would not only showcase the breathtaking beauty of the country but also bring us closer together as a family. Join me as I recount the highlights of our 12-day journey through the enchanting Nepal.

Chapter Trail

Day 1 to 2: Arrival in Kathmandu

Our journey began with a seamless arrival in Kathmandu. Nepal left an indelible first impression by ensuring our comfort from the get-go. The hotel, complete with an attached bathroom, TV, and phone, became our sanctuary. As we sipped tea and coffee, the warmth of Nepali hospitality enveloped us. The anticipation of the days ahead added a unique flavor to the city’s vibrant atmosphere.

Immersing ourselves in the rich history of Kathmandu, we explored UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Boudhanath Stupa, a testament to Buddhist traditions, spoke volumes through its ancient artifacts. Pashupatinath, a spiritual hub for Hindus, resonated with the energy of devotion. Kathmandu Durbar Square, a witness to Nepal’s regal past, unfolded tales of bygone eras. Each site painted a vivid picture of Nepal’s cultural mosaic.

Day 3 to 4: Drive to Chitwan National Park

The scenic drive to Chitwan was a transition from the hills to the plain jungle. The cultural kaleidoscope unfolded as we witnessed the change in language and lifestyle. Evening embraced us with the unique traditions of the Chitwan minorities. The following day, jungle safari activities brought us face-to-face with the wild. A tiger’s gaze and a rhinoceros with its young one left an indelible mark. The Rapti River canoe ride, culminating in a mesmerizing sunset, added a poetic touch to our Chitwan experience.

Day 5: Drive from Chitwan to Lumbini

As we traversed 202 km of highway, bridges, towns, and forests, we reached Lumbini. This sacred place, significant for both Buddhists and Christians, echoed with the universal pursuit of peace and love. The iconic structures erected by various Buddhist countries added a spiritual dimension to our journey.

Day 6: Drive to Palpa, Tansen

Retracing our route to a certain extent, we found ourselves in Tansen, the Queen of Hills. Surrounded by snow-covered mountains, Tansen’s historical buildings, including palaces and temples, provided a glimpse into the past. The scenic journey was a prelude to the serene beauty that awaited us.

The drive to Pokhara was a symphony of green hills, small towns, and villages. The tranquility within ourselves deepened as we embraced the solitude amidst nature. In Pokhara, a day was dedicated to exploring its wonders – Phewa Tal, International Mountain Museum, Devi’s Fall, and more. Each spot added a stroke to the masterpiece of our Nepalese journey.

Day 9 to 10: Drive to Bandipur and Kathmandu

Bandipur, a peaceful 19th-century village, was a step back in time. Its traditions, especially when illuminated by the night, created a captivating atmosphere. This Newari village exuded a charm that left us enchanted.

The five-hour drive from the Queen of Hills to the City of Temples was a journey through green hills and charming villages. The brief stops at small villages became moments of connection with the locals, offering insights into their daily lives.
