Ciao, fellow adventurers! Buckle up for a tale of amore and exploration as I recount our 12-day vacation in Italy.

With friends by my side and excitement in our hearts, we set off on a quest to uncover the timeless beauty and irresistible charm of this Mediterranean gem.

Chapter Trail

Day 1 to Day 3: Rome - Where History Comes Alive

Our adventure commenced in the bustling metropolis of Rome, where ancient wonders and modern marvels collide in a symphony of sights and sounds. From the moment we landed, we were whisked away by our personal driver, whose infectious enthusiasm set the tone for our journey ahead.

After checking into our cozy Roman abode, we wasted no time diving headfirst into the city’s vibrant tapestry of culture and cuisine. Picture this: strolling through the labyrinthine streets of Trastevere, savoring every bite of creamy gelato, and marveling at the architectural grandeur of the Colosseum as the sun dipped below the horizon. La dolce vita, indeed!

Day 4: Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast - A Journey Through Time

Back in November 2016, my Fiancée and I headed to the Pompeii Excavation Site. I had been here when I was 15, back in 2005, but they’ve opened up SO MUCH more of the site since - I wasn’t prepared for the huge walk around the site haha, very warm day too. I’ve used one of Annie Spratt’s presets to give this photo a bit of extra depth, looks pretty good I think!

Leaving the urban hustle behind, we embarked on a road trip southward, our destination: the legendary ruins of Pompeii and the sun-kissed shores of the Amalfi Coast. As we wandered through the ancient streets frozen in time, we couldn’t help but marvel at the ingenuity of the Romans and the sheer power of Mount Vesuvius.

But the real adventure awaited us on the breathtaking cliffs of the Amalfi Coast, where every twist and turn revealed a postcard-perfect vista more captivating than the last. From savoring freshly caught seafood in Positano to plunging into the crystal-clear waters of Capri, every moment felt like a scene from a Hollywood romance.

Day 5 to Day 6: Amalfi Coast - A Symphony of Sun, Sea, and Serenity

As the sun rose over the shimmering waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea, we knew that our days on the Amalfi Coast would be nothing short of magical. Armed with cameras and a sense of adventure, we set off to explore the hidden gems tucked away in the region’s charming villages.

From sipping limoncello on the sun-drenched terraces of Ravello to wandering the narrow alleys of Amalfi, each moment was a testament to the region’s timeless allure. And let’s not forget our unforgettable excursion to the fabled island of Capri, where we sailed through sea caves and lounged on secluded beaches like VIPs.

Day 7: Florence - A Renaissance Reverie

As we bid arrivederci to the Amalfi Coast, our hearts brimmed with anticipation for the next chapter of our Italian odyssey: Florence, the cradle of the Renaissance. With the clickety-clack of train tracks beneath us, we marveled at the rolling hills of Tuscany unfolding outside our window, each vineyard and olive grove a testament to the region’s agricultural bounty.

Arriving in Florence felt like stepping into a living, breathing masterpiece, with every cobblestone street and towering cathedral steeped in history and art. From marveling at Michelangelo’s David in the Accademia Gallery to indulging in a feast fit for the Medici at the bustling Central Market, Florence left an indelible mark on our hearts.

Day 8 to Day 9: Florence - Tuscany's Treasures

Our time in Florence was a whirlwind of art, architecture, and culinary delights, but our adventure didn’t end there. With the Tuscan sun as our guide, we ventured into the rolling hills of the countryside in search of hidden treasures.

From truffle hunting in the oak forests of San Miniato to sampling the finest Chianti wines at a local vineyard, each experience was a celebration of Tuscany’s rich culinary heritage. And as we watched the sun dip below the horizon, painting the countryside in hues of gold and crimson, we knew that our love affair with Italy was far from over.

Day 10: Venice - A City of Dreams

With Florence’s Renaissance splendor still fresh in our minds, we boarded a high-speed train bound for Venice, the floating city of dreams. As we glided across the Venetian lagoon in a private boat, our anticipation reached a fever pitch, every passing gondola and palazzo hinting at the wonders that lay ahead.

Arriving in Venice felt like stepping into a fairytale, with labyrinthine alleyways and shimmering canals beckoning us to explore. From sipping Aperol spritzes in bustling piazzas to getting lost in the maze-like streets of the historic center, Venice cast its spell upon us from the moment we arrived.

Day 11: Venice - A Tale of Glass and Lace

Our final full day in Italy was a whirlwind of sightseeing and adventure, as we set out to explore the hidden treasures of Venice. From the opulent halls of the Doge’s Palace to the iconic spires of St. Mark’s Basilica, each landmark was a testament to the city’s rich history and cultural heritage.

But the real highlight of the day was our excursion to the nearby islands of Murano and Burano, where we witnessed master glassblowers at work and wandered through streets lined with vibrant pastel houses. As the sun set over the Venetian lagoon, painting the sky in shades of pink and gold, we knew that our time in Italy had been nothing short of magical.

Day 12: Venice Departure - A Bittersweet Farewell
