Chapter Trail
Day 1 to Day 2: Tirana's Transformation and Divjakë's Natural Splendor
Landing in Tirana, I was welcomed by a city that had metamorphosed from its grey communist past into a lively, colorful metropolis. The welcoming drink and dinner at a gastronomic restaurant were the perfect prelude to our adventure.
The next day, we headed to Divjakë to explore Karavasta Lagoon. The panoramic views from the tower and the vibrant birdlife, including pelicans and flamingos, were mesmerizing.
Kayaking in the lagoon was both serene and exhilarating. We then traveled to Berat, where we delved into history with a visit to its fortress and enjoyed a delightful wine tasting at Çobo Winery.
Day 3: Hiking Mount Tomor and Embracing the Riviera
Our third day began with a hike up Mount Tomor in Tomori National Park. The sacred mountain, with its breathtaking views, offered a peaceful retreat.
After a picnic amidst stunning landscapes, we journeyed to Vlora, the gateway to the Albanian Riviera. The evening was spent strolling along the seafront, soaking in the tranquil beauty of the Adriatic.
Day 4: Maritime Mysteries and Countryside Charm
A boat trip to the Karaburun Peninsula revealed the hidden gems of Albania’s only marine national park. Snorkeling in isolated bays and exploring the historic Haxhi Ali Cave were unforgettable experiences.
We then traveled to Këlcyrë, where we were welcomed into a small farmhouse. The optional traditional cooking class was a delightful immersion into local cuisine, with fresh regional produce making for a sumptuous dinner.
Day 5 to Day 6: Rafting Adventures and Cross-Border Explorations
Rafting on the Vjosa River was a thrilling start to day five. The rapids provided an adrenaline rush, while the subsequent relaxation in Langarica Canyon’s thermal springs was a perfect contrast.
We then traveled to Korça, known as the “little Paris” of Albania, where the city’s coffee culture and vibrant atmosphere charmed us. The next day, we crossed into North Macedonia to explore Lake Prespa and Golem Grad, a wildlife haven. Returning to Albania, we relaxed in the tranquil fishing village of Lin by Lake Ohrid.
Day 7 to Day 8: Caves, Valleys, and Tirana’s Nightlife
Our final adventure took us to the valley of the Erzeni River and Pëllumbas Cave. The hike through mountains and forests was invigorating, and exploring the cave’s impressive stalagmites and stalactites was fascinating.
After a refreshing swim in the Erzeni River’s natural basins and a traditional village lunch, we returned to Tirana. The evening was spent savoring the vibrant nightlife of Albania’s capital.

My journey through Albania was an extraordinary blend of natural beauty, rich history, and vibrant culture.
