According to the World Happiness Report, there are six factors to consider the net happiness of a country. They are:

1. Gross Domestic Product

How is the performance of the country’s economy?

2. Social Support

If the country’s citizens are in trouble or need any help, can they rely on their relatives or friends to help them?

3. Healthy Life Expectancy

How long is the average citizen’s lifespan? How is their physical and mental health?

4. Freedom to Make Life Choices

Are the citizens free to be who they are, and who they want to be? Can they speak up without fear of repercussion? How is the state of human rights in the country?

5. Generosity

How generous are the citizens in helping each other? Do they donate to charities or worthy causes?

6. Perception of Corruption

How do the citizens perceive corruption in their government? In businesses in the country?

The World Happiness asks these six questions to surveyed citizens to gauge the country’s happiness.
