Destination Hero: Alejandro Rios
“I’m located in the vibrant city of Tulum”, Alejandro tells us. “Surrounded by beautiful cenotes, nature reserves, forests, beaches, and Mayan temples, where my team of guides and I dream up and create interesting excursions into the Mayan world”.
Alejandro has fifteen years of experience designing exclusive ecotourism trips while promoting the conservation of the natural and cultural heritage of the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico.
“Our mission as an ecotourism agency is to promote sustainable tourism, minimizing our impact on local communities, lands, and ecosystems,” says Alejandro. “And to give our clients an unforgettable experience outside of the mass tourism circuits.”
“To experience the area fully and have an unforgettable experience you have to get off the beaten tourist track.”
What is special about the area in which you design trips?
“The natural and cultural heritage of the Yucatan Peninsula is incredible. There are places here that no one should miss like Sian Kaan, Chichen Itza, Coba… “
“My team and I organize small group tours and work with the local communities. Our vision is for the visitor to experience a little bit of the magic of Mexico, whether it is in secret cenotes, exclusive haciendas, or in the middle of the jungle on top of a pyramid… Whether your interest is gastronomy, ancient history, cycling, art, or bird watching, we have something to suit your tastes, or we create it for them“.
What travel tips would you give a Baboo traveler to help them travel like a local?
“To experience the area fully and have an unforgettable experience, you have to get off the beaten tourist track. And with our help, it is easier to design an experience that combines the culture, history, adventure, and nature of the area.”
Support Projects
Do you develop or collaborate with any sustainability or support projects in Mexico?
“Our core values of respect, conservation, and education have led us to create lasting bonds with the many individuals and groups who share an interest in protecting the local environment and promoting culture and conservation.
We are proud to work alongside the many families, communities, small businesses, associations, and an impressive group of guides; all of whom uphold the same values and make a positive impact on their daily lives through their example and hard work.
We specifically support an organization called Movida Maya, whose mission is to strengthen the capacities of indigenous youth, preserve their cultural identity, sustainably develop their future and contribute to the sustainability of their community.”
