Destination Hero: Giulio Abbate
A trip to Italy is a must. Some say that “the transalpine country is a feast for the eyes, the stomach, and the soul.” The truth is that there are so many reasons to visit Italy that it would be impossible to list them all; every little corner of this country speaks for itself and narrates the more than 2000 years of history of this incredible country.
We spoke with Giulio Abbate, one of our featured Local In-Destination Experts in Italy. Born and raised between Rome and Milan, he is a designer of exclusive and luxury travel 100% “Made in Italy.”

“The transalpine country is a feast for the eyes, the stomach, and the soul.”
Can you introduce yourself to Baboo readers?
“My name is Giulio Abbate, and I love my country and have explored every corner of this amazing “kingdom.” With over 15 years of experience, an inimitable network of collaborators, and a wealth of industry knowledge, our team of local destination experts can offer Baboo travelers an exclusive and complete tailor-made travel experience in Italy. In which areas of the country do you work?
“We work all over the country, including the islands. I find it hard to identify areas that are more special than others, and I think the whole country is very special: rich in history, culture, nature and delicious food. My best advice for savoring all this richness is to rely on local experts. It is the best way to live authentic experiences.“

What place and activity should we not miss on a trip to Italy?
“I love the wine and truffle experience in Tuscany. I organize it in a full-day excursion to the heart of the Chianti Classico area for a tour of Chianti wines with a professional sommelier at the travelers’ disposal. I know many wineries that can organize more than a wine tasting with food, an authentic wine experience. Kids will love the truffle experience, going to the countryside with the dogs, and learning more about this exceptional Italian food.“

If you were to recommend only one of your programs, which one would it be? Why?
“If it is the first time in Italy, I suggest a classic tour in Italy that includes cities such as Rome, the Eternal City, Florence, the pearl of the Renaissance, and Venice, a unique city in the world.“
